The Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA) has awarded Lawton Public Schools’ Lynn Cordes the 2024 OASA District 13 Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the Year Award. Cordes serves as the district’s executive director of communications.
“I am truly honored and blessed at the opportunity to represent our district,” Cordes said. “I love what I do and am surrounded by an amazing team, educators, students, families and community members. I was completely surprised by the nomination alone, but to receive this award amongst my peers leaves me speechless.”
Cordes will be recognized at the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) Summer Leadership Conference on June 12-14, 2024.
Cordes – a graduate of Lawton High School – has served the district for 20 years as a video production manager, secondary teacher and communications director. She also serves on several boards to include Leadership Lawton Fort Sill and the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association.
OASA annually recognizes outstanding administrators who demonstrate successful experience in top level educational administration, can inspire and motivate people and give support and recognition for the contributions of others, and have a record which evidences continued professional and personal growth.
Over the years, Cordes has been recognized as a 2011 LPS Champion for Children. She also led several initiatives to include the district’s Lawton F.I.R.S.T. exercise (Field Incident Response Safety Team) for which she was awarded Oklahoma’s Whole Community Preparedness Award and FEMA Region 6 Community Preparedness Award in 2020.
Dr. Pam Deering, CCOSA/OASA executive director, said district administrators ”play vital roles in promoting best practices that lead to the highest standards of student achievement.”
“These leaders support the leadership team, the superintendent and the district as a whole,” Deering said. “Cordes is among the best of Oklahoma administrators. We are excited and proud to recognize these outstanding leaders.”
OASA has 20 Districts that consist of multiple counties. Eligible OASA members are nominated and selected by their peers in their OASA District. For more information about OASA and CCOSA, including past awardees, visit www.ccosa.org.
